Supplements We Like: Longvida Curcumin
Longvida by Verdure Sciences is an award-winning curcumin supplement made by Neuroscientists at UCLA. Why do we like it? Curcumin is the wonder chemical found in turmeric that exerts antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer actives. The problem is that taken orally, it is poorly absorbed and so not much gets into the body. Longvida is highly absorbable (bioavailable) AND crosses the blood-brain barrier. This means that it gets to the brain, where all other curcumin products cannot. So Longvida curcumin can have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects on the brain.
Indeed, one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology in 2015 shows that Longvida improves cognitive function and mood by taking 2 grams per day.
Another randomized control trial published in Aging in 2017 showed Longvida supplementation over 12 weeks improved resistance artery endothelial function by increasing vascular nitric oxide bioavailability and reducing oxidative stress.
The best place to buy this is on Amazon through ProHealth for $59. They occasionally offer an Amazon subscription that lowers it to $50.
