New Year’s Golden Milk | By Chef Amanda DeLaura
Serves 1
The star ingredient in this golden milk is turmeric. As the majority of our readers already know, turmeric is incredibly anti-inflammatory because it contains curcumin. But what you may be unaware of is that curcumin is not incredibly bioavailable. Thus, I’ve added black pepper (which contains piperidine), which increases the absorption of curcumin in your bloodstream. It's also worthy to note that curcumin is fat absorbable. Thank God for milk!
If you have access to raw cow’s milk, I’d highly recommend that instead of almond milk. You may want more or less honey, depending on your taste buds. And if you’re diabetic, feel free to use stevia instead, as it will affect your blood sugar levels less drastically than honey. Throw these ingredients into your blender, multiply it to your heart's desire, and enjoy. It's easy to make a big jar and leave it in your fridge to drink whenever you so desire (it should last up to five days)! Bon appétit!
