The Dirty Dozen

The “Dirty Dozen” is a list of twelve fruits or vegetables that you absolutely always want to buy organic due to the pesticide content of their nonorganic varieties.  The list is produced annually by the Environmental Working and is based on an analysis of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Pesticide Data Program (PDP) annual report,

It should be noted that according to the PDP 22% had no detectable pesticide residue. Click here to read the consumer fact sheets about the PDP.

  1. Strawberries
  2. Spinach
  3. Nectarines
  4. Apples
  5. Pears
  6. Peaches
  7. Cherries
  8. Tomatoes
  9. Celery
  10. Potatoes
  11. Peppers
